July 2025 Update
We are deep into summer, which means a lot of fun stuff but also a lot of relaxing. Puzzles, game nights, and days spent at the pool.
As always, we spent 4th of July in Alabama. Our first night in town, we went for a dusky dark 4-wheeler ride and saw the most gorgeous sunset! Riding around on the back property is one of my favorite things and this made it even more special.
My Uncle Fletcher recently passed away so things were a little different this year since he usually hosts lunch at his house. Instead, my cousin Kyle hosted and we all stuck around to swim afterwards. I loved playing beach ball baseball with the kids. We had so much fun! In the evening, we got to hang out with all my nieces and nephews and watch them slip and slide their hearts out. Before heading back to Nashville, we played some pickleball and had sushi with more family.
On the way home, Skylar bought herself a Ford Ranger. She sold her Toyota Carolla and is now a truck girlie. She absolutely loves it and it suits her! I’m so proud of all of her hard for these bigger purchases including saving up to pay for her first year of college.
Skylar spent the last 2 weeks of the month in Wisconsin. She was lucky enough to be awarded a scholarship to Aviation camp. She spent the week learning skills like welding, riding in a helicopter, and identifying planes. She had a blast and made a lot of friends. Once camp was over, two of her friends joined her for a couple days and they hit up AirVenture, which is a festival of sorts for aviation enthusiasts. She was so excited when she got back to show off all her swag she collected.
We had an opportunity to check out a Nashville Soccer Club game. It was a lot of fun but it was hella hot. This TN heat is trying to kill me this summer. In fact, we’ve started playing pickleball in the early mornings – like 6:30 am – to avoid how oppressive it is. We also have a fun group that plays together late night on Wednesdays. I’ve also been hitting up the pool for a bit at least one of the weekend days for some vitamin D and to try and even out this pickleball tan but the cool water feels nice. I don’t always love subdivision life but I DO love perks like an adult only pool.
I can’t believe summer is already winding down. We’ve already been dorm shopping and are, otherwise, just counting down the days until she moves into MTSU. This is Skylar’s version of a dorm shopping list. LOL.
