Cutest Little AirBnB Cabin
So many of you have asked me about the cutest little AirBnB cabin we stayed in last weekend. This past month has been a bit overwhelming and we just needed to get away. Mike found this awesome spot for us and we had an amazing trip! It was just what we were looking for. Here are the details.
The Red Mule Lodge is about 90 minutes East of Nashville near Sparta, TN. The owners actually have six different AirBnB’s on their property spanning 300 acres. The one we stayed in is a 1 bedroom with a bathroom and full kitchen. It has a small sitting area inside as well as a screened-in porch with a sauna. It has a private little yard with a fire pit and a beautiful view of their fields.
The family has two English Shepherds who happily greeted us and they also accompanied us as we went on a hike to explore. They know their way around so it was easy to follow along behind them. When we got off the beaten path, they patiently waited to show us the “right” way to go.
We were looking for a weekend getaway that was peaceful and quiet and this cabin was perfect! There’s no TV but we did have cell service (Verizon) and they also had wifi. We were able to find several restaurants nearby in Sparta and we enjoyed breakfast at Robert’s Family Diner, which is the closest option for food.
Dan was our host and he was very gracious. He greeted us when we arrived to let us in and showed us how to work the sauna (super easy push button). The main house is close to the cabin so we saw him another time while we were there and he gave us free rein to explore and even check out one of the other cabins that was unoccupied that weekend.
Burgess Falls State Park was nearby so we stopped by to see the waterfall. There is both an “easy” and “challenging” hike option, as well as a paved path that is wheelchair accessible up to the first overlook. We opted for the “challenging” option but it wasn’t bad at all. The 3rd and final outlook was breathtaking. It had been rainy and snowy leading up to our weekend so the waterfall was roaring. I’ll definitely never forget it!
I love AirBnB for a variety of reasons but this is one of them. We were able to find an isolated cabin (but with modern amenities) and were surrounded by peaceful nature for the weekend. If you’ve never tried it before, check it out. Use this link to save $55 off your first AirBnB reservation.
We’ve used AirBnB on other trips too. Check out where we stayed in NYC, Atlanta, and St. Louis.
