May 2024 Family Update

We wrapped up LAX season and the end of the semester with a trip to Top Golf with her teammates and parents. We had a lot of fun that night. I’m still beyond proud of how well Skylar handled all of the things she had going on this past semester. She’s a smart and well-equipped kid and I love being her mama!

I still have a love-hate relationship with the growing up business. On Mother’s Day she was up and at work way before my eyes were open and I wasn’t even sure I’d get to see her that day but she came home from work with a few of my favorite treats including flowers. If it sounds like I brag on her a lot, It’s because I do. She deserves every bit of praise.

Skylar also had an opportunity to do another test flight, but at the Gallatin airport this time. Gary let her fly almost the entire time except for the takeoff and landing. He got her connected with the director from Lebanon who took an immediate interest in her future and helped us get her into an aviation camp next month. It’s an incredible opportunity and I’m so excited for her!

We finally got to attend the Noah Kahan concert. We’ve had tickets since the fall. Back then, I couldn’t listen to his music because it’s so sad and hit a little too close to home. But I’ve come so far in the past few months that I was actually excited to go and had so much fun. For his lyrics to be so somber, he’s actually hysterical. Our little concert crew is my favorite. We have a few more shows to attend before these girls graduate next year and I’m so thankful to be making memories with them.

Memorial Day weekend was relaxing and a lot of fun. I played a ton of pickleball to pass the time. While I appreciate the physicality of the game, I have also surprisingly enjoyed getting to know the regulars who play. Never expected the social aspect of the game to be something I looked forward to.

This month I saw Challengers and The Fall Guy at the theater with my MoviePass. I really liked TFG for nostalgia’s sake but they did a great job putting a new twist on it.

Coming up next month is Summer Solstice. I can hardly wait.
