October 2024 Family Update
I did a lot of walking in October trying to rehab my torn calf muscle but the weather was lovely. I’ve been able to drill a little bit here and there but I’m both eager and scared to get back to playing. This has been a much longer recovery than I anticipated and I don’t want to get re-injured. In the meantime, some of the ladies I play with have gone out for tacos and margaritas and it was fun to catch up.
We celebrated the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, with Skylar and a few of her friends. I was in charge of pomegranate chicken and she made her gorgeous challah bread. Skylar also had an opportunity to attend the wedding of one of her co-workers and that lucky duck got to experience the Northern Lights before me. She also was invited to attend a fancy aviation gala this month. I swear, ALL the cool stuff happens to her! Ha!
.
Skylar also had her troop Court of Honor where she received her Eagle Scout gift and advancement within the troop. We will have a more formal event to celebrate this accomplishment in the Spring. Having that Eagle Scout designation looks great on her resume and helped out with her Naval Academy interviews with Senator Hagerty and Blaburn’s offices this month. We will hear back in December if she made it to the next round.
Our buddy patches stayed with us a few days while his family was on Fall Break. Skylar and I also got to see Denae Hayes at TPAC and laughed so hard. She’s hysterical! Fall is also one of my most favorite times of the year when I get to watch my neighbor’s tree change colors. It’s so stunning! He says it’s all fun and games until the leaves fall off. LOL.
I also did a thing this month and got Botox for the first time. I was a little nervous going in but Kelly was so patient with all of my questions. She even comes to your house – you know I love that! It was quick and easy and I’m excited for things to settle in over the next two weeks. Work has been picking up. I finished a new website built this month and have another one in the work.
We also went and voted together. Skylar missed being able to vote in this presidential election by just a few months. We’ve been voting together since she was a teeny tot and I have cherished the opportunity to bring her along. I hope I get to go with her again but I was really thankful to have one more time to vote with my best girl!
That’s about it for October. Travel hockey season officially starts next month along with the holidays – let the season of chaotic traveling begin!
