October 2025 Update
For the first time in I can’t even remember when, I hopped on a plane headed for somewhere other than a hockey tournament. It was also nice being able to travel for “fall break” but not when schools are out for their fall break. We spent a few days in Raleigh, NC eating our way around the city. We also played Pickleball (indoor & outdoor), visited a botanical gardens, and did a ghost tour. I had so much fun! It also felt pretty wild being in a major city that didn’t feel crowded and covered up in tourists like Nashville is. The weather was also a little cooler, so it really felt like fall.

I spent actual “fall break” tending to Skylar after she had her wisdom teeth out. MTSU only takes 2 days off so it was the perfect amount of time to have the procedure done and recover before she had to head back to classes. I was forbidden from taking any photos or videos but she gave a full-on comedic performance after surgery that still makes me cackle. I hope I never forget her confidence getting out of that wheelchair, her signing ASL instead of using words, and crying because she missed her teeth – yet demanding that she wasn’t high despite seeing double of everything!

Honestly, I’m not sure I remember the rest of October. Work has been super busy lately and I still haven’t quite come up for air. It seems that work is always like this every October but I somehow manage to forget every time. We did manage to finish a little project at the house creating a sit down bar area in the kitchen.

I also played plenty of pickleball and hung out with PB friends. The league in Lebanon ended for the fall and, while we didn’t win, we did have a lot of fun!

My book club for this month read The 7-1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I wasn’t a fan of the book but I did love the wine & bruschetta bar we went to.

I also was super excited to hand out candy on Halloween. I mean, if I gotta be living in a subdivision, I might as well get to experience the fun stuff. I set up the firepit and camped out in the driveway in front of some decorations. All the kids were dressed up and polite and I enjoyed every bit of all that cuteness.
