June 2015 Update
This month I had the chance to visit the new ballpark in downtown Nashville. I really wanted to dislike the new park because I didn’t think Nashville needed another one. But, I LOVED it! The layout and design of the park is fantastic! Then I found out there used to be a ballpark in that exact same spot 40 years ago and I was smitten. Plus, the Nashville Sounds are doing a great job of honoring the legacy of the original team, the Nashville Vols.
tLG and I finished The Green Ember (a fantastic read aloud) and we are now starting the Harry Potter series to carry us through 3rd grade. Our school year officially starts July 1st through our umbrella program but we won’t truly get started until August. I need to do a separate post on our curriculum choices for this year. It looks quite different from last year but I’m excited about it.
Summer Solstice fell on Father’s Day this year so we didn’t have a party but we did spend the afternoon on the boat at the lake with Mike and his parents, which was definitely reminiscent of summer fun!
My little #redneckgarden is coming right along. I’ve already picked green beans, zuchinni, lettuce, cilantro, rosemary, and basil. I’m still waiting on carrots, peppers, tomatoes, black beans, pumpkins, and watermelon. I’m pretty proud of myself that I grew every single thing from seed this year. Gardening teaches me something new every year and it’s really exciting!
This past weekend Skylar & I spent time at the beach with K-Diddy & MiMi. We had a great time looking for shells, boogie boarding, crab hunting, swimming and kite flying. I also finished a book and we ate plenty of oysters. Gosh, I just love the vacationing at the beach!
We are back in Birmingham for a few more days to celebrate the 4th of July with my family before heading back to Nashvegas.
