February 2026 Update

February started off with a head cold that wouldn’t quit. I haven’t been sick with a cold in a long time but this one was rough and came complete with coughing fits out of nowhere. Ugh! We are all feeling much better now. Thankfully, we also had some warmer days in February and we were even able to play PB outside several times.

I got to see Skylar this month when she invited me to come line dancing and Hop Springs with her and her friends. It’s been a couple of decades since I used to go line dancing every Sunday night at Roper’s in Hoover, but it was a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to going back. Her flight training is going well this semester. We need the weather to cooperate a little more but it sure is fun watching her little plane loop around on the radar.

This month we had both the Super Bowl (go Seahawks!) and the Olympics, at the same time. I’m more of a Summer Olympics girlie but seeing the Opening Ceremony on TV made me wish I was there again. I definitely enjoyed watching the different events, with the grand finale highlight of seeing both the women’s and men’s hockey teams win Gold!

Since it’s February, I kept our “love note” tradition going strong even with Skylar away at college. This time, I wrote them out all at once and strung them up on a little banner that she hung up over her bed.

One super cool thing we did this month was the Rare Magic show hosted at Union Station hotel. I’ve tried to get tickets before but they sell out quick! The show was fascinating and I’m still thinking about a few of the tricks he did and trying to figure out HOW IN THE WORLD DID HE DO THAT?

  • Island Breeze Bistro – Lebanon, TN
    • Caribbean food with a lot of flavor and good spice

That wraps up February. Here’s to official Spring showing up next month!
