Family Update

January 2017 Update

This month we have been knee-deep in the middle of our remodel. Things have been changing at a rapid pace, which is both exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Our contractor has been AMAZING and it’s been a lot of fun to watch our house completely transform in just a few weeks. As for me, I am all decisioned out. Between cabinets, light fixtures, tile, paint, grout, doors, faucets, vent covers, granite, trim, windows, shelving, knobs, and pulls – surely, there is nothing left for me to have to choose. Ha!

We watched our little house get demolished down to the studs and it’s been fascinating to watch it get put back together in a new and improved way. At this point, we are closing in on the final stage and are just a few weeks away from being able to move in. Granted, we still have the 1, 3, 5 and 10-year homestead plan ahead of us, but we are super close to having a house that is night and day different from what we started with. I’m definitely looking forward to living at our new address! It’s turning out even better than I had imagined.
Managing the logistics of a huge remodel sucks up a surprising amount of time so there’s not much else to report. We did celebrate Skylar’s 10th birthday with some sweet friends at Dave & Buster’s. I still can’t believe my girl is 10. It really does go by SO fast. Mom & Rex were in town for her birthday party and my Dad & Sonya also came to visit this month. It’s been rather enjoyable to show off our new property to family members.

In other news, I welcomed a sweet nYn doula baby last week. I’ve also had 4 new work clients in the last 6 weeks so I finally hired some help. I started 2017 with a goal to have a team of VAs by the end of the year. Guess I’m getting a head start on that one. 🙂 All of my clients come from word-of-mouth referrals and I’m so thankful for the Lord’s continued provision and blessing. I’ve been wrestling with God about my purpose in life. For such a time as this, I think my mission is to support and encourage other working women. Granted, a few of my VA clients are men and I enjoy helping them to be organized and focused on the big picture. But, I immensely enjoy handling tasks so that these amazing ladies can pursue their dreams, whether personal or business related. By adding to my task force, I’m also empowering and equipping other type A mamas like me who need to be home but also want to contribute to their family income. I’m feeling very content about where the Lord has put me in the here and now. If you know of anyone needing a VA, send them my way.

Stay tuned for February. I can’t wait to post the final before and after pics from the renovation. More pics here.
