June 2022 Update

Now that it’s summer and the CV pandemic is simmering down, there are some incredible movies hitting the theaters again. I saw Top Gun in the theatre TWICE. It was so good. Seeing the Goose/Rooster story come full circle was the closure I never knew I needed. I was on the edge of my seat both times. I also saw the new Elvis movie which was totally different than I expected (and a little long) but still incredible. If Austin Butler doesn’t win a bunch of awards, I’ll be shocked. His performance was seamless. My friend, Cindy, and I also went to a cheese making class! I’ve always wanted to learn how and we had so much fun.

Skylar has been having a blast at camp! So far she has worked in The New Trail, Handicrafts, and The Dining Hall which means she is getting lots of experience and meeting lots of people. Basically, she’s living the dream. She’s been gone for 5 weeks and this is, by far, the longest I’ve ever been away from her. I’ll be honest that the first 2 weeks were fine. The introvert in me loooooved being alone but that feeling wore off. Even though she’s away, she has still been making me laugh. We made a deal that she would at least try to text me every couple days to let me know she was alive and call me on her off day. Well, she definitely lived up to the deal. For several weeks the only correspondence I would get is a simple “I’m alive” like clockwork every 3 days. LOL!

I was planning go visit her at the end of June but we decided to put our house on the market so I wasn’t able go see her. I’m not exactly ready to talk about selling the BFF. I feel like I’ve cried a million tears over it. I love this house and this property so much and we have literally poured blood, sweat, and tears into it. Honestly, I don’t really know what’s next which is a whole other thing. Sometimes best laid plans go sideways in a hurry. Selling the BFF feels like the loss of a dream and this was a BIG one. It’s a huge blow and I’m starting back at square one. Even though it sucks, it’s setting us up for what’s next and I am excited for that part. Again, I don’t know what that is yet but I’m confident it will all work out. I constantly hear my mom in my head saying “you’re smart – you’ll figure it out!” and she’s right. I will.

Not much else to report. It’s been a month full of house prep and home selling logistics and that takes up a lot of time. Oh, but I did go ahead and pull all of my garlic! I had a TON! Love growing this stuff. You plant it in the fall and then you can pretty much forget about it until right before summer.

This has certainly not been the restful summer I was hoping for but life has a way of always keeping us on our toes.
