June 2013 Update

It’s officially summer! Oh yeah!!!

Not long ago someone was joking with me and said, “Wow, ya’ll don’t play around when it comes to summer!” That’s the truth. It’s my favorite time of the year and Metro only gives me a measly 8 weeks without school so I make the most of it. I’m known for staying busy with a full calendar and summer is no exception!

I’ll admit, as much as I love summer, I’ve been in a bit of a funk. With the Nashville bestie moving to Dallas, it put a damper on things. It’s like my motivation and confidence hopped on that Uhaul with them. But I’ve been determined to make the most of it, find my way again, and not let this summer slip by. So, me and my best sidekick (tLG) have been out and about plenty. We actually discovered a new local favorite, Bicentennial Mall State Park. I can’t believe that I’ve never been there before. It has a little bit of everything including a water play fountain, huge green lawns, nature, bells, and a gorgeous view of the city. Plus, it’s right next to the Nashville Farmer’s Market. We love it!

We’ve been moving right along with our summer bucket list. So far we’ve checked off summer reading, berry picking, summer dinners, Friday’s at the lake, zoo day, Nashville Children’s Theatre, beach trip, catching lightening bugs, and ice cream shoppe. tLG has also had 2 weeks of Encore camp, Wildcat camp, and swimming lessons. We’ve still got quite a bit more to go but we did have an amazing  Summer Solstice party, which is a huge checkmark! Juli from Art Moves came and did awesome crafts with the kiddos and it was definitely the hit of the party. We had almost 50 people inside, outside and everywhere in between and I was loving every minute of it. So many people love summer just as much as me (or at least appreciate my love for the season) and came to celebrate with us. It was a great night!

Mike and neighbor Wade also went on a camping/rock climbing trip this month to the Tennessee Wall near Chattanooga. Despite the rain, they had a great 2-night stay and saw and heard all sorts of wildlife. It’s right on the water, so they have plans of going back again and bringing the whole family for some boating. Of course, while he was out of town my June client went into labor and I had to rally the village to care for me and tLG until she delivered. I have the best people!

Today, Mike and I dropped Skylar off for “Grandparent Camp” so she’s spending the next week in Birmingham. I’ve got 8,000 projects planned including setting up my grandmother’s piano that we brought back with us so I better get busy. As always, thanks for stopping by.

P.S. Check out more pictures and a new video from TKD testing (we are still waiting on results)!
