Family Update

May 2016 Update

School is out for Summer! Yay! We limped across the homeschool finish line but 3rd grade really was a great year.

Skylar’s creativity has really grown this year and she continues to become more and more independent. In fact, I never make her breakfast and lunch anymore. She does great on her own. Without this key component, I would not be able to take on as much work as I have so I’m super thankful because it allows me to do both virtual assistant work and doula work. Although, I’m still not a fan of this growing up business. I’d keep her this age forever if I could. Actually, age 6 was totally the sweet spot.

Speaking of work, I just continued to be amazed at all the cool VA projects I’m getting to work on and all the generously kind people that have fallen into my lap as VA clients. They each have unique business needs and it’s exciting to be a part of their growth, which in turn is stretching my skill set as well.  Mike has settled into his new position with his job. I’m so proud of him and his ability to manage the work load of his account along with the Millennials that come with it. They are not an easy task and I do not envy him.

We did a couple of field trips this month. The first was strawberry picking at Circle S, which is always fun but it was super cold this year. We also went to McKays right after school finished to get some summer reading material. We have a pretty good plan in place to prevent summer boredom and it’s working out nicely so far.

End of the year also means PROM and I was recruited to help two of my favorite gals get their hair fixed. It was so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again next year.

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. We spend time out on the boat with some friends and also had a chill day at home getting caught up on some home projects that had been lingering.

After a slow start and replanting, #BecauseBaron, my little garden is coming right along. We installed an extra rain barrel and I finally have the beginning of a seed pot on my last surviving carrot. It takes TWO YEARS to get carrot seeds so this is super exciting. The farmer’s market is also back so we have farm fresh eggs again and all sorts of other deliciousness each week.

I started eating the Trim Healthy Mama way this month and I have lost 9 pounds. I literally Do. Not. Diet. Ever. so this is pretty impressive. The plan is pretty easy to follow and I get to have a milkshake every single day (along with 3 meals, a snack, and dessert). That’s the only way my friend was able to talk me into doing it with her. All of the food is delicious and I think we all know how much I love to eat yummy foods! I wasn’t particularly interested in loosing weight but it so happens to be a side effect of eating the THM way so I’m not complaining.

We are heading into my favorite time of year. Check out our 2016 Summer Bucket List.
