September 2021 Update
Honestly, September wasn’t all that great. I was in a pretty bad spot emotionally, spiritually, financially, all the things. I felt like everything was falling apart and I didn’t even really care. So, what did I do? Died my hair blonde and bought a camper, obviously.
The camper has become my new office. It’s been nice to have a quieter place to work away from the house noises. With everyone home for big chunks of the day it had gotten harder and harder to accomplish the things I needed to. The camper also will be dual-purpose because we will be able to take it on trips with us. In fact, we already have something planned for next month. So, even though it was a crisis purchase – I’m not mad about it. It has helped my emotional level tremendously.
Skylar has adjusted really well into her high school tutorial this semester. I was a little worried about her coming from an unschooling environment but she’s absolutely crushing it and even has one of the highest grades in her math class. This is coming from the kid who used to HATE math when I pulled her from public school.
She was also invited to the homecoming dance this month and had a great time. We were in a bit of a time crunch to get her ready because of back-to-back hockey and scout events but she looked beautiful. There are 2 very important things I want to remember about #HOCO2021.
- The story behind Skylar’s Necklace.
- That Taylor Swift’s Never Grow Up song started playing when I was doing her makeup and I had to make a joke to keep from crying my eyeballs out.
We had a special visitor this month, all the way from Iowa. Our little Greenie puppy had quite the start to finding her forever home. She wasn’t a great fit for the lifestyle of her original family and ended up on a plane to Iowa where she was adopted by Matt & Molly who are head over heels for her. She now goes by the name Mia and they stopped by the BFF on their way through Nashville. It absolutely made my week to get to see her again, even though it was total chaos seeing all of the pups playing together. Ha!
The rest of the month was par for the course.
Hockey.
Scouts.
Rinse.
Repeat.
